Completed yesterday by Luther Metke, contractor, the new Drake park footbridge across the Deschutes river was in general use today and pedestrians using the span appear to be unanimous in their belief that it enhances the appearance of the entire mirror pond. Work on the bridge was started in late August, when the old span, constructed 15 years ago was torn out.
Only one piece of work remains to be done, by the city. The guard rails are to be given a protective coat of linseed oil, City Manager, C. G. Reiter announced today.
Dirt approaches to the span have been constructed and packed with water.
